Dalam bahasa Inggris jika
terdapat 2 kata kerja berdampingan maka pakailah 'to' atau merubah kata kerja
kedua menjadi verb-ing. Misalnya: I like eating. They want to eat. Jadi tidak
boleh ' I like eat' 'I want eat'. Dalam bahasa Inggris ada kata-kata kerja
tertentu yang harus diikuti to invinitive dan ada juga kata kerja tertentu yang
harus diikuti oleh verb-ing/kata kerja yang dirubah menjadi noun denga
menambahkan -ing atau disebut juga gerund. Anda bisa membaca materi tentang
gerund dan juga to infinitive. Dari penjelasan ini mudah-mudahan Anda bisa
memahami perbedaan 'went to see' dan 'went jogging'
